This is a free verse connected with memories of my precious Grannie who passed away in 2009 and then linkage of how painful it was to deal with.

Glitter Dust And Scissors

[Free Verse]

Chasing the dragon

Down feeble sneaky steps

Longing to know

Of sweet existence

And a beginning

Yet left within a bunch of flowers

That make me asphyxiate

The memories of that heavy

Floral scent in the chapel

I cannot forget you, I cannot let go

There are many things left

On glass shelves

Falling from grace,

I grasped the only items I could see

Glitter dust and scissors

Oh! What an odd combination

I was handed that queer day

I don’t want to forget

I won’t ever forget

Jangly walks down the beach

 I cannot step

I stand, letting the tide tickle my feet

Shells galore

The scissors and the glitter

Symbolic to my childhood

Before I knew the true craft

Of what a blade could truly do
