Shadows of Surreal GloryA Poem by Ziggy Jagger SpiderFromMarsThis is about a trip I took to Arkansas with a guy who was supposed to "save me" and help me. He ended up being abusive but I wrote this poem before I could see that. This was basically about...sex (:
The sights along the way are lovely
I linger in the moments When I was infinite with you We've all been there at least once in our journeys My remedies, my personal anesthesia to soothe my pain I'd love to travel beyond those interlocked pieces I've been bound It creates a world of wonder As I exclude myself intentionally Snapping back to what I thought was home I found out that in those moments of infinite feelings I was not singing No, not even then could I step from the shadows I crept back to my corner of satisfaction And simply continued to hum a melody That was somebody else's favorite song It could never be my own And still, streaming shadows continued to light up their faces I laid down, hungry for sleep And could feel you moving across my room Your chill swept into me like a delightful fever It did not make me ill Rather shook me up inside I'd only been around that corner once We explored uncharted territories Wild and vivaciously We anticipated what we would find and faced the northern sky There were purple hazes at dusk And autumn flames at dawn We never got to sleep The light filtered in the den where we laid feeling infinite Like nothing could ever chain us down Our veins were aquatic and full of life Our hearts thumped vibrations that sounded like songs And that was when I sang to you And all you did was smile
