Broken Child

Broken Child

A Poem by Kathryn Star, Shine!
"

Not everyone fits the "golden kids" rules.

"

There is no difference,

Between girl or boy,

Same to be true,

An outcast because you don't wear the clothes

School is a learning place,

Some learn they don't belong,

Others find their nose is too big,

Locker rooms are there to tease,

While the golden kids get everything,

Demean the shy,

Make fun of the guy who doesn't have a car,

Pick apart your soul

Then toss it around so others can see,

What you want kept hidden,

Laughter, pointing in the hallway,

Broken kid tried to smile,

Knowing they'd never be,

The kids who were mocking them,

Inside wanting to die

Author's Note

Kathryn Star, Shine!
To all those BULLIES, KARMA IS A BITCH!!!! And I hope all those kids in my grade got to be successful and full of life, while the golden kids got to work flipping burgers the rest of their lives.

that's sort of what happens many times - we outcasts are the idealists of the world, many of us are writers. we really are those that turn the wheel of life, are the drivers of our lives and not just a passenger. it takes courage and confidence to be different - it's what makes us independent and unique for who we are and not how cute we appear

"Some learn they don't belong" That is very, very true. I've experienced my share of bullying and not being able to fit in. Good poem, and something that I can really relate to. And you're right; Karma is a b***h, bullies!
