Thank GodA Poem by Kathryn Star, Shine!Jesus took our sins, everyone in humanity; I give him the glory He deserves.A tree cut down for a purpose, To hold the One that could only be on it, How that tree must have greived to know... On that day, cut down, made into a cross, To hold our savior of the world, Ohhhh how much did it groan Jesus held responsible for telling the truth For everyone to know, A lamb to be, slaughtered, no worse, Claws that whipped into his skin, A crown made out of thorns, shoved down on his head, Words spitting at him as if he was a theif, He knew from birth, this was his destiny, Took it with strength, never denied the Greatness of God, As he was carrying his own cross to his grave, A man saw, simple he was but he knew that this was No ordinary man, but a Saint, As he ran from the crowd and picked up a side of the cross, Said I'm here to help you, as lashes from the soldiers went across his back, Let me help you he said face to face with our Lord, Fallen to the ground, out of breath, The man pulled him up and helped him cross the path, Up that hill where criminals go, Yet this was no criminal, but taking our sins from our souls, To the hill, then the soldiers said your work is done They nailed Jesus to the cross, Put a sign above his head to be sarcastic, Jesus only said, "Forgive them Father for they do not know what they do" Hours passed, his thirst, his hurt as he hung The joints from his arms came out of place, Made his breathing harder to breath, As he looked at his family, his mother, his brothers Blood dripping down that wood he was on, Tortured until he looked up to the sky and said, "I give you my spirit" Then he was gone, The earth rumbled, the temple torn in two Speared through his side to make sure he was dead, The Roman soldiers took him down. Afraid, darkness beheld, with great earthquakes everywhere And they sobbed for they knew they just killed, God's son. © 2009 Kathryn Star, Shine!Author's Note
