Have I told You Lately

Have I told You Lately

A Poem by Kathryn Star, Shine!
"

Two old farts, living the dream...

"

Somewhere in time,

You swept me off my feet,

Bought me flowers,

Took me to the theatres

I was twelve,

You thirteen,

As you would gather flowers from the neighbors garden,

Golden roses, red, yellow and red,

Give them to me when I was at my locker

Now that we've grown old,

You still do the same,

But instead of gathering roses,

You give me my dreams,

Of someone who I can depend upon,

To hold when I'm getting tired,

Our hands, two in one,

Knowing each other like the back of our hands,

Smiling even brighter

When we first met,

At the schools bus stop

Spending almost your entire life together with someone, suddenly waking up with them next you and noticing that 30 or 40 years past by and they were always there, always doing the same displays of affection as in youth. Truly a great write! That's love right there! I do wish it would maybe get a bit more in depth and a little longer... but hey! It's poetry! It's perfect the way it is!

Aww.. This was just incredibly sweet. Exactly the kind of thing I needed to read right now. *smile* Instead of gathering roses, you give me my dreams. That's quite a gift =)

But instead of gathering roses,
You give me my dreams,"

I applaud and enjoyed!

Lovely!

I always appreciate a graceful exposition of the simplicity we all long for: youthful romance segueing over time to the comforts of venerable care.

Just by living this, or at least imagining it realistically, you accomplish a primal poignance, and evoke an empathic smile in this reader.

Sound loving work.

Tales of a long and unchanging love, what could be more endearing to the heart? A very nice write reminding us all of yesterday's love.

k, I loved this poem, its sweet, romantic and nostalgic, sentimental in a way that subtlely touches the heart
with the joyous feeling of what past stllmakes the future bright,
thanks for sharing your talent
