this is what i wear

this is what i wear

A Poem by Kevin Reader

6.3.2007 (3)

this is what I wear

            a polka dot party dress

            to my best friends party

            there are dozens of toys

            wrapped in shiny paper

            tied up tightly in bows

this is what I wear

            green camo pants

entrenched, layered up to my hips

            in a thick mud

I feel stuck in this war of wanton kings

            whose battles serve pockets

in pants other than my own

this is what I wear

            smooth creamy peanut butter

            cold clammy grape jam

spread across my two inner faces

with a knife meant for butter

this is what I wear

            powdered makeup

            prissied and molded in mirrors

dressed for a day in the market

            a market of men

and we’re plum out of peaches

And so the celebration goes on...this is what i wear -a daytona florida t-shirtover arms that have never been to floridaand whatever is left of an old Jimi Hendrix, afterglow, yes, and second hand smoke.this while i sing to youhold me, hold me, hold me(holds up the roses)I love being human. And it seems to me - and I do say this under the faintest of light - that so do you.So here's to your writing...

Very interesting style of writing here. I liked the set up and deliver of the lines. The flow was tight and the image that I got almost was a woman going through stages of her life and explaining through the style of expression she was involved or caught in.

Great Job!!!

this is different poem, but i like it.
I think you've captured the visions of a couple different things, and described them,
so that the way they look almost tells you their story.
sweet write :]
