You're my favorite plot twist
Someone I always miss
My feelings for you never fade
All the memories we have made
That sit with me for the rest of my life
Every day it cuts deeper like a knife

Imagine it's 2042,
But I'm still in love with you
While you're married, raising a family
Wondering if you have forgotten about me

Let's say it's 2042,
And I'm still not over you
Filled with remorse because I let you go
Looking at our pictures in times of woe.

Tell me, why are you so irreplaceable?
No one can match, truly incomparable
From my failed dates, short-term rebound fling
God knows that I kept your promise ring
Watching you triumph as I follow you on FB
Here I am heartbroken, exclaiming C'est la vie.

Fast forward to 2042,
But I'm still into you,
We may not end up together
Swore you'd have my heart forever

What if it's 2042,
And I'm still thinking of you
When I am nothing but old and gray
I'll remember how much I love you today.
