The Bad Fruit

The Bad Fruit

A Poem by KevinKevz

You said "I was the apple of your eye",
But those eyes were blind and it was a lie.
Your inability to see the love I give for free,
Now you really don't give a fig about me.

I might go bananas if I remember our past,
A fugacious story that did not even last.
At first, everything was peaches and cream,
Then why did it become an unpleasant dream?

How can you be as cool as a cucumber?,
When you stabbed my heart with a dagger,
It went pear-shaped when you left me bleeding,
I just want "forever", but you gave me "ending".

I got cherry-picked to be played like a toy,
Unwrapped me then you break and destroy.
Is this sour grapes that you're happy and I'm not?
Knock on the wood! Hoping in hell-- you rot!

Because you regarded me as a low hanging- fruit,
I fell on the ground and stomped me with your foot.
So I guess, when life gives me lemons the next time,
I'll make sure to get a tequila with salt and a fresh lime.
