The Enigma

I can't blame people who despise me. But this is who I am. A huge jigsaw puzzle. It's my life, not theirs anyway!

Are you perplexed? Sorry if all this time I’m being enigmatic
I’m striving to be brave, but I do things that make me look pathetic.
I love to see smile on my face but I grieve until I feel so lonely
I want to be free, but I incarcerate myself in doubts, fears and worry.


My dreams are tremendous and I aspire to be on top
But I feel so lethargic and I slack to the max then flop
To be loved, to be adored is what I desire truthfully
But most of the time I hate myself and I don’t admire me.


Am I really strange? Because I’m wrapped in a hard riddle
I can sail through a stormy sea, but I don’t like to paddle.
I say rough comments but I detest backhanded compliment
I have lots of misbehavior yet I act like an innocent


Believe me or not I’m pretty good at giving people advice
But I’m bad at my own decisions so I still need to think thrice.
I want to be happy then get rid of toxic noise
Yet I keep on thinking the things that kill my joys.

I must say this is so human in nature. I loved your write. We aren't talking about great and inspiring things here, we are just talking about the complications of a common mind and that's something worth pondering about. "Toxic noise", I love that description. Love the premise of this writing as well; I think we all have a bit of an enigma within ourselves. We feel one way, then turn around to do something completely opposite. This gives me some inspiration for my future work!

note to self, self to note! I like it, like your self examination and truthfulness and i like your writing flow and rhyming scheme and we really don't use the word thrice nearly enough! I like your process this is the way of evolution and i'm all for it particularly in these times.......

Thanks. I'm stuck between using just twice or thrice. But to tell you honestly, I make mistakes not just twice coz I do it 3X or 4X to make it sure. But I appreciate your comments regarding this piece Sir. I'm into rhyming poems and to tell stories that basically reflect who I am.
