Smoke RingsA Poem by Kevin HollowayPoem inspired by the motto "you are your own God"
We drift like smoke rings
Birthed from a lit cigarette We rise as they do high Into a never-ending void We open like smoke rings Who diffuse with time's touch We follow the wind's path Into an expanding cradle And so life is a lit cigarette Releasing its smoke, its children We, who stretch our arms Toward the highest cloud Life a toxic pleasure gun Triggered by a spark of want Does deliver its promises And devotedly drains itself For we are its reason for being We are its victim and its master Drifting like smoke rings From the cigarette we have lit. © 2010 Kevin HollowayReviews
