Afterlife Isn't For Me

Afterlife Isn't For Me

A Poem by Kevin Manson
"

Just something to hold over while I have writers block

"
I am still awake
For reasons to medicate.
The bitter pill has gotten me high
And I'm falling apart.
Power-cord-noose is my fate
And it's all so much to take.
And the cardboard razor
Has touched my skin again.
Couldn't let it go.
But Ms. Misery doesn't know.
The fool-act has gone dry.
So don't ask me why.
Leave "love" at the door
Because I know I'm such a bore.
Falling from such low heights
They call me "attention-w***e".
Indifferent EMTs
Take me into emergency.
And the red lights in my vision
Will never fade away.
Couldn't ever let it go.
And Ms. Misery will never know.
My fool-act has gone dry
And I don't want you to bother yourself by wondering why.
I am still awake
For reasons to medicate.
The bitter pill has gotten me high
And I'm falling apart...

This is such a poignant and well written piece of poetry. You really have a talent! It's so personal and moving. Some parts rhymed, some parts didn't but all in all everything flowed really well. I loved the last stanza the best, I think it was really cleverly written.
