Can You Dance To Misery?

Can You Dance To Misery?

A Poem by Kevin Manson
"

It's really complex and I wrote this for class. I guess it sucks less. This is just to hold over, while I deal with writer's block on Simon Hale.

"
Ms. Victorian walks into a room
And I don't think I'm allowed to show my face to her.
Head like an atom-bomb,
I search for things to say
As I don't want the world to dance to my bitterness.

Mind like an asylum,
I wish I never-had-to-explain-why-I haven't-been-up-to-myself-and-act-all-solemn.
I don't want to be the one to rain down on your happiness.
As you can see, there's no method to my madness.

And can you dance to misery?
While moving to the rhythm of apathy?
Can you see the light?
Is it way too bright?
All your tickets to my afterlife have been revoked again.

But I will never love you like you have always hated me.
And mark the days that you will always miss,
So you'll know that your cancer will never remiss.

The last time that I saw you to cry.
I never expected you to tell me why.
The last I saw you cry.
I never, ever expected you to tell me why.

Paint yourself a portrait and say,
"It's sympathy."
But when the lights go out,
I'll send my apathy.
It's sign that it's mine.
And I'll never think you would ever want meet me.

And can you dance to misery?
While moving to the rhythm of apathy?
Can you see the light?
Is it way too bright?
All your tickets to my afterlife have been revoked again.

Can you dance?
Can you dance?
Can you dance to the sarcastic rhythm of my apathy?

And I will never hate you as much as you have "always" loved me.
And keep a calendar for the days you've missed
So you can know that your cancer will never remiss.

The last time that I even tried
I knew that it would make you cry.
The last time that I even tried
I knew, I knew that it would always make you cry.

But I will never love you like you have always hated me.
And mark the days that you will always miss,
So you'll know that your cancer will never remiss.

The last time that I saw you cry.
I never expected you to tell me why.
The last I saw you cry.
I never, ever expected you to tell me why.

Just something to hold over while I deal with writer's block on Simon Hale. Again, it's written for class and probably isn't good. I guess you could call it complex. What does it mean to you?

^Those are my favorite lines, I would have put the whole stanza but the last line really doesn't do the piece much justice. Nice job :)

Phenomenally written.

Sounds like she didn't tell you why and the poem surfaced to explain why. Eh . . . But it failed to explain, no it took me on an acid-like trip into your subconscious. Free wheeling and damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead. Actually I identified with your rambling quite a lot. During my Two Lost Decades in my life I was pretty much living out the grotesque and pain of this poem.
