A Night Out

A Night Out

A Poem by Sparkle
"

I'm sure this has happened to everyone. At least I hope so, because I would hate to think it's just me.

"

I see I've caught your eye

So I give my biggest smile

Then look away

So I don't seem desperate

You walk across the room

Hoping that I notice you

But I ignore

So you won't think I want it

You sit down next to me

And ask to buy me a drink

 I allow it

Hoping it will lead to something

As the small talk begins

And I can't get one word in

I feign interest

Because I like the attention

The night continues on

I haven't finished drink one

You don't notice

Because you never stopped talking

My whole night was a waste

It didn't end at your place

I remember

Why I hate going to bars

Thanks for the ego boost

Wish I hadn't smiled at you

But at least now

I get the bed to myself
