bird of prey

bird of prey

A Poem by Kett

raptured moments
and a torment luring
vultures circle your carcass and i hover too
above you to devour

burnt out eyes to pluck against
feathers plumed above will fan no release or shade
they stick hard to signal surrender
because you know you have to,....

how fast a wing will flap to strike
how fast it will speed itself to fleet past your weakness
and i laugh,
i laugh at you today
for there is no rescue for you..

you take your last breath before i inhale your wings, crest and tail.
