The Taste of Regret

The Taste of Regret

A Poem by Paper Doll

My eyes are puffy and swollen
After having hung up the phone
Just when I think I'm out of tears
I start tasting the salt again
The taste of regret
As I remember your pale green eyes
Remembering the way they looked at me
But never with the look reserved only for her
My eyes flood again
I realize how pathetic I am
At the same time I realize the lies
Your lies and everyone else's now rising to the surface
And another sad realization sets in
I am alone
