Caiden

Caiden

A Poem by Alexandra
"

I never got to speak to my aunt's daughter. She was born prematurely and unfortunately died soon after. I suppose it's more of a free-form poem, however I see it more of a one-sided conversation that I never got to have.

"
A true blessing you were upon this flock of lost sheep,
Born from the blackest of our bunch.
Your existance, so short and yet so profound,
Your purpose, spoken in volumes without my ever hearing your cries.
While others have questioned why God could take you,
I could only thank Him reverently for His gift to us.
On occasion, I picture how you look in Heaven.
Something so close to our Creator is hard to imagine though.
Tell me, are the streets truly made of gold?
And did you ever feel us around you?
I knew your time was short when I gazed on you.
It took everything in me to not let it show to your mother.
You were the guiding light that she needed at that moment,
Sadly, I don't think she understood your true meaning for being here...
Your mother is still lost in the darkness,
I'll fight to help her find the Light.
Please help her find her way, help her heal?
No matter what the answers, please know I am thankful,
So very thankful that you lived.
You, our little winged one, led me back to the Shepard,
I pray you'll be the one to guide me Home as I take my last breath.
