Two-sided Coin

Two-sided Coin

A Poem by Alexandra
"

Written by request for friend, she wanted something with a sense of tragedy to it. It's rather quick though, not really my best work.

"
Elation, suspension, the blood quickens.
What is this emotion? What is blurring this vision?
Two hearts, once far, so nearing one now.
This chest, once empty, so becoming full.
And yet, why can't my foolish heart see the futility?
I was damned to hurt from the start.

Betrayal, deflation, the tears fallen.
This body is heavy. The world feels too dark.
Two hearts, once near, wrapped amid thorns.
Never touching, they ache, yet do not yearn.
Ironic how all the clues make sense after the ending.
I was damned to hurt from the start.
