Run Away With Me

Run Away With Me

A Poem by kera moondust
"

Some new half love struck poetry =)

"

I’m beginning to think it’s time for you

                To run away

I spent all my time

Running away

And ended up way too far from

           Home

                           (you)

It’s true I have always said I preferred

                Blue eyes

Much like mine

                                And yours

But it wasn’t until you

That I truly even found someone

                Whose eyes mocked mine for

                                Color

That I so much as adored

And now I’m in this empty place

Surrounded by millions of people

And all I can do is long for

                Won’t you run away

With me?

You told me you were ready to move

But not away

And I told you I had these wings

I tattooed on my back

Because

                I felt destined for

           Great

           Things

But I know my blue eyes are the sky

Which encases them with

                                Wonder

And yours are the sea

With depths I’ve been trying to

                                                Explore

For decades

And if you’ve really met the person you’re supposed to marry by 16

Why haven’t I found someone willing

                                                    (you)

                To run away

                                With

                                me

Such a wonderful piece. It's really quite sweet in it's solemn thinking. The way you use a similarity to highlight a difference is very clever and powerful. My favourite line would have to be this, though:

And I told you I had these wings
I tattooed on my back
Because
I felt destined for

Great
Things

I'm a fool for such romantic ideals and hope, even though my life has left me appearing jaded and cynical. So when I see things like that, they really strike a chord in my heart. It's the one furthest away on the guitar, that you can only reach with your pinky finger if you really, really try.
