Weddings and River CurrentsA Poem by kera moondustHe's been too busy for my taste. =)I never
realized how many weddings I have been
too until you told me You had to
go to one Aunt’s
weddings a plenty, But never
uncles Cousins,
sure, And even my brother’s
wedding once. I went to my
step sister’s wedding last year in December It seems as
I get older Weddings become
more common And now S**t My ex wants
me to go to his You were at
your aunts wedding I’ve been to
many of those You were so
busy Too busy in
my opinion But while you
were gone I found
myself aimlessly wandering At three in
the morning Wishing your
hands were around my ribs And my
fingers tangled in your hair Instead I
found water around my toes And the
unreturned romantic glances of boys Whose hearts
I had all but broken My snake
like fingers and tongue spewing all my dirty Tricks Don’t ever
take me to the movies if you find I am single I find I
like to break the hearts of the movie goers And I get a
free meal and ticket out of it With you I jumped
into that river head first The moon still
glistening on the surface Begging me
to come back up for air But I couldn’t
do it And now my
foots trapped under a rock And I’ve
been carried involuntarily down stream By this ever
winding current And all I
really have to say is Well
s**t Because the
city calls my name And I’m
constantly being asked Well why
didn’t you go with him to his aunts wedding? Which… I don’t have
an answer to And as these
months go by I’m not any
less scared or ready for what is coming Then I was
to begin with I thought
time would solidify things for me But you’re
still just like the shoreline With eyes
the color of the tides That ebb and
flow with the phases of the moon Only now
your hands play my emotions with a bow And mine
cradle the spaces inside your chest cavity And loneliness
is just too common on nights When I’m
alone with water around my toes And you’re at your aunts
