The Benefits of The Middle of NowhereA Poem by kera moondustthis poem I wrote on the way back from some fireworks in the middle of nowhere lolI know
nothing towns My father Grew up in a
nothing town With one
little bar A store (if
you could call it that) A bunch of
crack head houses And a train I will tell
you right now I never
really lived there But I have
spent a good deal of Childhood summers
there And sometimes Even though
I never did I feel like
I grew up there And that
dusty bug ridden air Is in my
bones There really
are not many benefits To small
towns Or the
middle of nowhere I can only
think of two One of them
is definitely the space For your
childhood imagination to Roam That town
has one road And since
then I have vowed I will Never NEVER Live in a
town with only one road Too much
traffic coming and going (or so that’s
what I said) But that
desert land that lacked Something in
the way of Roads Housed the
adventures of an empty Headed dream
studded, child Which is
just maybe, good enough At least for
a nothing town Another
benefit of the middle of nowhere I have
stumbled across After years
of not so much as living in one Is the stars All those
stars in that sky Put love
struck gazes back in there place And you can
say it over and over Again But nothing
will ever Put those
starry skies To
shame I certainly
don’t enjoy the bugs I find
crawling up my legs every time I’m in one
of those Nowhere’s But the
other animals aren’t so bad Sometimes Maybe Just maybe They can
remind you of innocence, And prove
the world is Still Beautiful But I guess
even so I never want
to live in the middle Of nowhere © 2013 kera moondustAuthor's Note
