I Don't Dream About FallingA Poem by kera moondustSpace heaters in the middle of the night make me fall. Some people dream about falling Their toes are hanging off the edges of buildings And their feet are too scared to give up on balance But the emptiness below them is all too Inviting They walk with the sea swung steps Of hungry drunks Dancing off the planks of pirate ships Into the bay of never never land With eyes so sewn shut they can’t be Afraid of the ghosts in the room next door Or the monster that will surely come out Of the closet Because well dreams are good at making Anything Possible I’m never caught falling in my dreams But I still fall in my bed on cold nights When my space heater’s galactic take off Has suspended me just above this atmosphere When the rockets at the back of my bed have sputtered to a halt And my stomach has dropped below ground level You see the heats hit perfection And the winter has suddenly forgotten to be cold And my restless mind Tricks my poor body into falling through Space Time Where these fingers can feel nostalgia And I find myself revisiting Warm evenings tripped up on poisons And some boy I believed I was In love with still suspended in a never ending 5 AM © 2013 kera moondustAuthor's Note
