Made of Stars

inspired by the most astounding fact in human history and science. Our atoms were created from stars.

My atoms are traced into the burning

Facets of ancient stars

Pulled from the glitter

That collected and cooked at their core

And exploded into this galaxy

 

The pieces of those stars

Have become me

Connecting me to these earth and heavens

 

                Where I am home

 

I want to float above this plant

And look down at all that becomes me

The sun is my sister

Polaris is my brother

Earth and Saturn are my children

 

                This galactic inhale is my being

 

As I’m exhaling the stars traced in my hair and

Eyelashes

Down to the carbon

Embedded into my body

I want to surf the sky

And jump over the moon

 

Creating beauty out of black holes

Because they are a part of me now

The connectivity of our universe

Is the one thing that becomes

                                             Me
