Painting in ColorA Poem by kera moondusta re-adaption or re-inspiration form one of my much older works of poetry called the colors of my soul. My improvement as a writer since middle school is immense.I once
looked myself in the eyes And asked
what color my soul was Someone told
me Well you’ve
got this black little soul That taught
you how to dance on your toes On en Pointing out
the guilty And trying
them on death row I’m really
not convinced that I only
see this world in shades of
black and white I’ve got
these artists hands Covered in
this rainbow of paint That splashes
colors on my dark little
soul Or so they
said See it Can’t
comprehend This world
that I’ve been said To see in
all but color And who said
the window to the soul was the eyes I think
maybe it’s the hands These dainty
little girly hands all dipped up in paint That I’ve
covered my face with over And Over See maybe I’m
a rainbow girl Not this
monochromic shade of gray You thought
I was seeing black Not this pigmented
world There has
got to be a reason My favorite
level of life Happens to
be the rainbow road I’ve got
this kaleidoscopic mind Swaying on effervescent
drugs So potent
with hues You’d think
this was a contrasting world Of More tints
and tones then the shades of black and white That these
broken little sky eyes Were said to
refuse to see And for a
girl with this supposedly ‘black’ Soul I sure paint
