It's Snowing but the Leaves are Still GreenA Poem by kera moondustI was sitting in class when this occurred, it's been a hot year and the leaves are still green even as our first snow fall decided to come down yesterday afternoon.I’m never
sure about this world anymore As winter
arches her broken back Throwing her
arms desperately At the last Clinging jaws
of summer Autumn sits
back and watches I think
Winter is angry But I can
see in her icy eyes Where fear
spreads like summers best Wild fires (she knows her snow covered
curves are melting) And well we
won’t fight to save her Spring is
worried she is next Seasons use
to take turns Like well-behaved
school children Learning the
value of Sharing is Caring Now winter
is fighting To show up
in this place I can hear
her wind in my ears Begging for
my help Winter first
asked for my body One ordinary
late night I wasn’t so inclined
to give it to her My eyes are
already snowing I don’t want
to feel her Hands around my
throat Fingers shoved
into my mouth Cooling my
lungs with her arctic winds I don’t want
her icicles On my
eyelashes Or blizzards
nipping at my nose But even in
her dying form Winter will
always take victory from summers clutches And maybe this is But What’s
Christmas without Snow. © 2012 kera moondustAuthor's Note
