Baby BoyA Poem by Mackenzie KnitterToday, 4 years ago, my brother committed suicide. For you baby boy
4 years ago today, the sun set and never rose the same.
The earth raised you up high, taken away in God's name, And yesterday's sharp, stabbing pain is today's dull, throbbing ache. I miss you, baby boy and I'm not the only one, Your brothers, your sister, your dad and your mom All share the burden, of a lost brother, a lost son. Don't worry baby boy, don't you fret, We're not mad at you, we just don't want to forget Your freckles, your hair, your big beautiful eyes, The way you looked at the ground with a shy, sideways smile. We will never forget, so you just wait, For the day we can reunite at the beautiful golden gates And just talk for awhile, catch up on old times, Then you can show us around, like we've pictured in our minds. Time has passed, and the wound is still fresh, And some days are harder to get through than the rest, But we'll be ok, as long as you will be too, And, until we met again, beautiful baby boy, I love you.
