SomeoneA Poem by Mackenzie KnitterThis is me taking the advice people have told me after graduation and creating an actual sense of empowerment that the people of this generation can utilize.
Be something.
Be someone. Change the world. Change yourself. Do your best. Do better. Leave your mark. Don't leave a scar. Be successful. Don't be anything less. Be unique. Be professional. Contradicting words, cancelling each other out in order to fit into the category 'supportive'. A dash of false encouragement, to build up a sense of empowerment, Followed by a comment to shave off individuality, disable the mind. There's no room for error, this small window starves creativity. No more. I will change the world, By being myself and myself alone. I will do my best, By always pushing the boundaries. I will leave my mark, By embracing my scars. I will be successful, Because I am not afraid to fail. I am unique, I'm an individual, not a robot. I am something. I am someone.
