Borrowed Life

Borrowed Life

A Poem by Kenneth Nicholas Lowe

Unworthy is a borrowed life and thought
That leads unto a disappointed knot

Continual search for justification and twisted truth
You read in greed, yet your mind is mute

Studying for a glint of logic or a slight of sense
You drift far away from sanity's fence

In hope Bolster your self-esteem
You cry and blame and fight and scream

For only you it will be true, just and right
Self-judgement a cause is a long foresaksn flight

Yet all around you still tastes of salt
For only you could find its faults

And only you will find its taste
Surrounded in a self-pitiful waste

And only you will find this sorrow
For a life and quotes from others, you borrow

this is the first piece of yours that I have read and the rhythm and flow here is exquisite.. the rhymes don't feel forced and the message delivered..

one part in particular really stood out to me...

"Continual search for justification and twisted truth
You read with greed, yet your mind is mute"..... powerful, clever phrasing to an absolute truth.. unfortunately... too many people will "hear" what you are saying, but they don't "listen"... BIG difference..

So many today suffer from low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, addiction, you name it and go down the path to destruction because they don't get the help they so desperately need.. so it is like they are just "borrowing time"...

short, concise, real, honest piece that I thoroughly enjoyed.. well done..

Thank you Surya
Honest and full of talent!
I liked the message in this. We all got to be self dependent. The title itself justifies your poem.
Would love to read more by you :)
Thank you.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)
It is hard for some people to take responsibility for their own actions, but it is something we must all learn to do, and have some humility while we are at it. We are too proud nowadays, and often not for valid reasons. Great write.

Thank you for your kind words...
My favourite couplet was the fifth one. It really did flow very well. Yes you need to be self- reliant.. Depending on people for justice or other stuffs will leave you sore. I liked the message of the poem. What value is it to live a life which isn't on your own free will!!".. :) well done
