Poison Maiden

Poison Maiden

A Poem by kenny
"

idea comes from the "poison maidens" of indian folklore they ingested small amounts of poison as they grew up, so that ultimately they could poison rivals by sleeping with them.

"
I lived life alone but at peace with that fact,
and then you came along changed my act.
No longer was I content to be just me,
I knew I had to have thee.
You brightened my every day,
and made the simple things better in every way.
And now I sit alone once more.
You left my heart, leaving it cold and sore.
Fleeting pockets of warmth visit me from time to time.
Elation never feels complete however I find.
I try so hard to think better of those times,
but I just cannot forgive such crimes.
The dust that gathers on my favorite things,
the reminder of time lost so painfully stings.
left pained by the beautiful maiden,
veins still flowing with poison.
but I didn't die...
but oh how I wish I had.
