The Sojourn of a SoldierA Poem by kennya knight rescues a maiden, to discover a terrible truth
A young knight traveled riding tall,
in search of the fairest maiden of them all. Searching for her colors and crest, to wear upon his breast. He found many beautiful women, many of which welcomed him, but none felt just quiet right, until a woman came along so bright. So beautiful her light shone for miles round, and brought all men's knees to the ground. But to gain her favor, he would first have to save her. For in no small tower did she dwell, her own form of bidden hell. An evil man who stole her light, and trapped it for his own delight. So the knight climbed the tower, nearly taking all his power. But upwards he persisted, though struggling and unassisted. when alas he did reach, and found a door he could not breach. The woman refused to open the door, confused, the knight tried once more, to much the young knight's sorrow, the woman refused to follow. For the man whom kept her hidden, was the man for whom she was smitten. Unable to save the fair lass, the knight now waits for time to pass. Refusing to wear any colors, but her's. © 2010 kennyAuthor's Note
