The Nature of Things

The Nature of Things

A Poem by kenny

I was taught to be a hero.
I was taught to be selfless.
You behaved like a zero.
You behaved oh so selfish.
I have no idea why I looked up to you,
when I was the better of the two.

I was taught to reach down,
to dig deep.
To break ground.
You only cowered like a sheep.
I ignored my gut when it came to you,
now I see it was always true.

You were a bad man.
a useless waste of human being.
I looked to you as only a best friend can.
all the while ignored what I was seeing.
I realized all to late to put to use,
you were the one tying my noose.

You took all that I had,
you left me broken and mad.
you took nine years of my life...
followed by my wife.
All the both of you ever gave me was lies.
And now there can be no compromise...
