What a man

He met her in the mystery
Section at the book store.
He was drawn in by the
Way her lips curved in by
The corners when she
Was talking about the
Latest book she had just
Finished. He invited her
For a cup of coffee
And further discussion,
And she obliged.

He learned her favorite author, and that she had studied creative writing at university and it was her dream to see one of her books on the shelves someday. He was memorized by her passion, the way she led the discussion with haste and how her words dripped from her mouth into his ears. He wanted to kiss her, love her, be with her forever. He was struck by how quickly she had taken his heart, and wrote her name all over it.

He took her back to his apartment for a drink and to show her his own personal library. He was into the dark romance and he has a special liking for Poe. They drank scotch and he read her his favorite poem. Annabelle lee..and her throat tightened when he reached the end, wanting him to never stop reading to her..

He then started reading The Black Cat and when he reached the end he got right up to her ear, and read the final words..before grabbing her throat and squeezing it tight. Stifling her air flow and leaving perfect hand prints positioned around her neck. When her lungs finally gave in, and her last breath escaped from between her pursed lips, he sat her in a chair, at the table and aid out plates and cups for them to share a meal together.
He poured her a glass of wine and brought it up to her lips, smiling as he poured se down her throat. They dined and this time he led the discussion telling her all about his life growing up.
How he bounced from foster home to foster home, and eventually was labeled as unstable. He would get in fights with other kids at home and at school and even hung a cat from its tail, tied it too a tree branch. Eventually nobody wanted to take him in until he was 18 and was flushed from the system.
All he ever wanted was for someone to love him, and as he chewed and swallowed the last bite of his meal, he thought, maybe he had found what he has always been looking for.

Damn. I must admit I wasn't expecting that in the least. The beginning got me interested and honestly I was expecting some cheesy romance type thing. The throat grabbing threw me off for a second but I managed to climb back on just in time to finish reading what turned out to be a well written mind-f**k (I apologize for the profanity but what can I say, that's what it is.) Not much else to say, I'm pretty sure I'd just be regurgitating what all the others have all ready concluded... great job :)

This was super easy and smooth reading to take in and mesmerizing too. I love a good romance and thought I found a romantic writer in you until the end that was quite disturbing and unexpected! It was cool though and different, and I liked the shock and it brought out the lover of Hannibal in me, the movie. Still disturbing though because I think it possible. Which is why I think it's great fiction. Very realistic to me however unfortunate. A great read, great job!

Love, love, love this story. Tales of psychotica with a twist are exactly what entertains me.

If you are ever serious about writing more than flash fiction, I think the storyline and ideas in your piece are good enough to explore further. I think you could take this idea to short story length. You obviously have the imagination and descriptive skills to do it.

I really liked your story. Good job.

Kennedy; Wonderful story, what a shocker, tiny details make the story stand-out and I agree with Rudy, in the same style as a master. You got right to it, the concept it creative and you have a broad audience. Very well done indeed, and What A Man: Great title: Clever. Thanks you. Dale

Excuse my language, but HOLY S**T!
I was getting ready to write a review about how I wanted a man just like that, who loved me for my intelligence and nerdiness. But then it turned...and I loved it.

This was super well penned. Definitely one of my favourites. I will be adding it to my library!
