The Game

The Game

A Poem by Kennabee

I smile but does it really reach my eyes?
Am I happy?
No
Are they Happy?
I’ll never know
The thoughts swirl in my head
Debating
Listening
Looking
Soaking up every little detail
So I know how to play the game
I put on my mask
Head raised shoulders back
Emotions tucked in
Fake smile on my lips
I know how to play the game
Nobody suspects
They’ll realize too late
Oh yes I know how to play the game
When it’s all over and done
Nothing will be left
That’s the way the game is played
That indeed is how the game is played
