Fire BurnsA Poem by Kenna GibsonA girl comes to terms with a broken heart and rids herself of memoriesFire Burns
The perfect scalding
of the sun As the new day flares, The first thought ignites
her Hopes and his face
appears, A face pure With spirit, Shrill lectures,
scribbled paper and yet She learns only his
name, Hazel threatened
brown, Gel perfectly
sculpted around A face pure And coy, Her blue could fill
the ocean, But he is never there
to see A burn only there for
her, Her friend is
helpless when compared with A face pure But lone, Wrenching eyes see
twisting dresses, She’s in blue but his
hands are Green as he whispers
‘I’m sorry’, A hug and she leaves,
her friends see only A face pure And thin, Even liquid success
could not bring back Her smile when she
turns round, His young, temporary
love with her reflection But he only whispered
‘I’m sorry’ to A face pure With fury, ‘I’m sorry’ are just
words, written With faded ink, but
as she tries to read She forgets his name, A smile not forced
and A face pure And free, His cheeky hazel
threatened wink Only serves to furrow
her brows, She remembers his
name again and Doesn’t know why © 2015 Kenna Gibson |
