Dreams

Dreams

A Poem by Kenneth L. Hamilton
"

Dreaming

"

Reality has vanished, the shadows have fallen.
You have leapt from land into the endless sea.
The ocean of dreams, where reality ends
and the mind takes absolute control.
You have become a god, creating the ideal world.
Perfection in the eyes of one

As you drift into slumber, your mind awakes.
crafting a world from thoughts that scarcely exist.
Recreating people and fabricating worlds
much like a puppeteer applying his art.
In this ethereal state, you possess power
limited only by the realms of your imagination.

But what of the time when you must crawl out of the sea
and reemerge into the reality that you recently left behind.
You ponder how something so surreal could feel so celestial.
Euphoria defined, and you ask yourself
when your eyes open, and the shadows depart
will you accept the light? Or still grasp for the darkness?

Many would rather cling to a dream, desiring and praying for change.
You? You prefer to reside in the dream. So you work to make it real.
