The Stolen Muse

The Stolen Muse

A Poem by Kenji Light

While in the filthy and cramped lavatory,

Miles above the droll countrysides and busy city streets
I found myself regretting that I had not the time
To fold up and hide the Airline-issued parchment
So scribbled upon by a furious pen.

When I returned from battling through aisles and elbows,
Fly down and face plastered a panic-white,
I saw the empty tray and the footprints of a limping muse
Squashed under an untrustworthy hand.

My eyes kindled an accusatory fire.
Flight attendant, you know not what you’ve done.

I enjoyed the comedic expression. It may me feel that even though something may get ruined there are always more words that we will write.

Pretty clever. Teach you..never leave something of value unattended, alone with an attendant. Rain
