The Stolen MuseA Poem by Kenji LightWhile in the filthy and cramped lavatory, Miles above the droll countrysides and busy city streets
I found myself regretting that I had not the time
To fold up and hide the Airline-issued parchment
So scribbled upon by a furious pen.
When I returned from battling through aisles and elbows,
Fly down and face plastered a panic-white,
I saw the empty tray and the footprints of a limping muse
Squashed under an untrustworthy hand.
My eyes kindled an accusatory fire.
Flight attendant, you know not what you’ve done.
