WHEN I BECAME A MAN

WHEN I BECAME A MAN

A Poem by Kenny Alex
"

Inspired by Phil Allen and Clayton Jenning

"
When i became a man i put away childish things
Before i became a man i didn't know i'd always fit inside the shoes of a king
i was living in the present not caring what happened in the past or what the future holds
Putting all my worth on money, jewelry, pleasure and gold
Thinking nothing will bring me joy unless i combined it with a lighter plant paper and roll
I saw everyone who spoke the gospel was wrong

Before i became a man alcohol was my God and girls were my angels
I'd be in the wrong place and time thinking yeah! this is my angle
I sought happiness though that mission never succeeded
Cause i was blind, again and again i repeated

Before i became a man i was young
I was so dumb thinking that having fun i all there is to life
Though i would strive, strive for every cent, every cent that would lead to my own destruction
Never knowing that sinning is too expensive for me too afford but i was young and so was my perception

And then it hit me, not it, he, he found me from the dusk and now to think about it without him i don't know how long i would last
At that moment i became a man
When i became a man he was my play maker, my point guard and my coach
I became loyal to him, my lord, my saviour doing nothing but for him and always keeping in touch
He made me know what i was worth and nothing could afford me for a king to win me on a cross

When i became a man i found a book Which has the best love story and the main character died for me
So when they say true love doesn't exist i feel sorry for them cause 3 nails and a crown of thrones yet ye don't believe

When i became a man i started seeing life in the past, future and yet not ignoring the present
I was astonished by his death in the past, forgiveness and yet still awaits in heaven, truly his love is endless
I became a student who teaches and a teacher who learns
Though am not a traveler i still have a dream of seeing the promised land

When i became a man i stopped being a follower of Christ and started being a Christian
Not following him just for the sake of it but trying to live like him for in this road to heaven i am not an ordinary pedestrian
I'm moving with a speed i can not explain in a car i can not describe on this road to greatness
When i became a man, I wasn't scared of my closet for i became tall, old, bold and bright
I am not afraid of the dark because i walk with the light and it all started when i became a man
