History

A Poem by Ken e Bujold
"

"same name, same theme as an earlier poem, but this more towards the writer, poem that prompted the thought'

"

In time to come tomorrow shall look back

and stammer over everything sooner --

History, grasping and desperate to absolve

itself of the age-old inflammations,

will doubtlessly dig and delve into the red ribbed

dirt of Demeter’s quarrelsome nursery

to illustrate the godly roots of man’s nature --

why my scantily clad arts were always suspect,

too timid to endure a life outside

the musty hothouse of parchment towers.

Hailing Ceasar, I’m greeted by the numeric force

of Crowe and Pitt, glorious George --

wikis, pizza, roulette, a curious cocktail --

then radio silence. Pages and pages ad infinitum …

Not even a wisp of the Cavalier’s Claudius,

Romans whispering of dark and deadly deals.
