A Very Modern Revelationist

A Very Modern Revelationist

A Poem by Ken e Bujold

The sons of David much like the Arabs,

not of us, but awfully close -- akin

to being at the tail end of an ethereal game

of telephone. Transmission received, information

scrambled, open to misguided interpretation.

Raised in the hothouse of a fervent faith,

my Nan’s view of the world took root, still flowers

more often than I’d like to acknowledge --

whenever the Levant’s harsh soils begin to crack

and crater, exposing new fissures in the old

world’s geopolitics of first past the pearly gates.

An armchair critic, Dog whisperer, a bit too prone

to giving advice, lobbing bromides across the table

towards the obviously uninformed party hats …

‘What the world needs is an old-fashioned smiting,

brimstone and fire to clear the cussed sinuses!’
