Thoughts of TroyA Poem by Ken e BujoldImagine Odysseus staggering home, returning from his night out, still
flushed with excitement, reeking
of adventure, a little too much revelry, overindulgence, the bon
hemeur of other lads, miscreants,
rattling about his head … Penelope waiting by the door, Telemachus at her hip … It’s a story I’ve written so often I know the lines by heart -- like the two times tables I memorized way back when, before the mushrooming multiplications of aches, past due notices, diapers, childcare, braces swamped across intentions, any notion of sailing off alone.
