Girl in a Green Dress

Girl in a Green Dress

A Poem by Ken e Bujold
"

triggered by a conversation with Chris Shaw about Monet's Camille

"
An autumn fancy, girl in a green dress
rustling shadows of a late afternoon,
stirs a recollection of another
skirt, other moment in time, slipping away
from illicit midday rendezvous.
If I close my eyes, my mind hints
I might imagine the ghost she left me
differently. Perhaps. Unlike
Monet recalling Camille
the automatic reflex of colors
is not a window to reflection,
opportunity to revisit the moment
she departed. I watch the girl
slink into the dark hole of an underground,
on her way, I imagine, to an illicit midday
rendezvous with some one. Not me.

Your girl in the green dress. Enjoyed immensely Ken and so pleased that our conversation about Monet and his Camille, inspired this beautiful piece. A big thank you for the mention. I too am very fond of Monet’s art.

I would certainly like to meet this young lady who had your so enamored. What a wonderful slice of time to provide we readers, always in the inimitable Bujold fashion.

A poem like an impressionist painting with all the atmosphere.

Poetic impressionism or expressionism is a field which your pen is well suited to, my friend. This was Autumn sultry like a warm afternoon full of color. I enjoyed the read. F.

I like the construction of this, introducing the girl, thinking perhaps about another, then the ghost that haunts his recollection of their rendezvous, Monet's recollections, then back to the girl as she disappears. It has a musical form to it, satisfying and complete. (I'm a musician, btw.)

Love the Monet part...reflex of colors, seeing someone who reminds me of....
Yes, the rendezvous, but not with me.
But imagination can be so strong, can't it?
