Cowgirl Blues, Perdition's Road

Cowgirl Blues, Perdition's Road

A Poem by Ken e Bujold

We drew lots: short straw rode the bed.
An hour’s penance. Sixty miles.
The lure of a fetching cowgirl
incentive enough for a rough ride.

Halfway to Estevan my a*s
gave out, lost that loving feeling.
The lure of a bucking cowgirl
not nearly enough to compensate
the short straw’s buckling ride.

Pickup are never comfortable but they do have that out west feeling
I had quite a few old Ford 4x4 half tons and loved them all

Hi Ken,
Really loved this story and your choice of words to describe that days ~ evening ride.
So good is your story that I could visualize quite easily the ride.
I also love the play on words.
The lure repeated ... excellent
I love this...
Also, Ken,
So sorry I have not been reviewing very much these past couple of months.
I broke my clavicle and three ribs...all on my right side, and I am right handed, so I have been unable to type... until recently,
Lisa
Buckling cowgirl ... bucking ride ... excellent
I wonder how many of the readers will see the slight difference.

Fabulous... but whatever I read I review...
Lisa and yes, we are all about health..
Oh, come on now!! See, this is why you should stand and surf the back of that pickup at least half the way. We used to do that just for fun on the old farm roads at eighty miles an hour...death was but a silly word or perhaps a youthful wish when bored in the country days. Whatever she was, she was first and foremost a cowgirl..what more can the world offer up..lol. A wonderful memory and poem but give that devil her due..she's half the ride at least..maybe draw straws and bring a pillow just in case...loved the honesty and I have to wonder how her a*s felt as a cowgirl waiting for the men to arrive after taming the wild saddle and buck..no straws offered. Plus, when "Perdition" is in the title how can one go wrong..lol. Playful read and thoroughly enjoyed!
