On Verlaine, Mon Reve Familier

On Verlaine, Mon Reve Familier

A Poem by Ken e Bujold
"

written in response, inspiration of Verlaine's grand poem

"
Never quite monogamous but
Committed to the concept
Of a lover then now and then

Nights swirl a recurring wake
Strange fruit illusion of an unknown
Woman then now and then

Sometimes dark sometimes fair
Never quite so sweet as sweet as
Her name implied. Fidelity

Then and now then Patience
Charity Hope -- never quite the same
Nor quite the other -- similar

Of a kind but not so as to confuse
Senses of senses of which seasons
Cool,  calm, ignite blood over reason.

An interesting and marvellosly put concept. Interesting you've only had male reviews so far. All three of them. I think I would be scared bringing this up.
But To fear does us part. Great sardonic writing.

A splendid concept, but I wonder how many wives would approve of partial monogamy. My experience is they don't have a sense of humor concerning such things.
