My Morning Absolution

My Morning Absolution

A Poem by Ken e Bujold
"

"a thorough rewrite of an earlier work"

"

A leg up, and off,

somehow in alignment --

the compunction for not sleeping

a little longer … unfortunately

hinges on the choice of fish -- too much

sodium in the bass …

an overfill at the Old Towne Pump

last night …

This morning’s need for a kicking jolt,

a bounce-back latte -- yet to be

determined … dependant

as always on the rooster’s rousing abulia,

how heavy the penance turns out

to be …

I’ve learned through the trials and

constipations of parsing irregular verbs,

one must not be too hasty

in their rush to judgment …

a little relaxation goes a long way when

firing up the wagon, getting started …

holding off on the monumental decision

of eggs on toast, or toast and

eggs is the guiding principle to an enlightened

constitution …

how well you manage the rest of the day’s

deconstruction …

Peculiarly, I’m partial to reading Eliot …

the rhetorical sternness of Mr. Prufrock

seems ideally suited for the twenty-minute …

wait for waste. My morning absolution.

Author's Note

Ken e Bujold
some may remember the earlier poem, which was playful, but a wee bit scattered in its presentation. This one is tight. As much fun, if not more so, but focused, or so I say...

Oh yes! The food connection. We've had some problems with this daily activity in the first quarter of the year. There is either too much salt or processed sugar or both and inflation has made a wider range of choices quite restrictive. In the end all things tend to tie in together. And for cultures where 3 square meals and snacking in between puts food items and eating very high on thought and emotion. But I digress, lol.

I often wonder over egg on toast or toast and egg, but all it gets me is question mark eyebrows looking at me like I just went potty in their purse.
What confuses me further, is the recent discovery of scrambled eggs in a wrap. Okay, it's not the same as scrambled eggs with toast, whether they be toast soldiers or not, but what is? It is lighter and therefore I can wishy think it into being healthier for me.
And to go with that, I look forward to seeing bounce back latte appearing on the menu boards sometime soon.
And those irregular verbs should never be rushed either.
If It wasn't so early, I could be convinced that this is not about something else other than menu choice. But it is early and.... No, just a coincidence 😊
