An Off Note

An Off Note

A Poem by Ken e Bujold

A crumbling chord
threatens to break
the tidy accord we made
to keep things harmonious.

The angry craw of a crow
chasing off the unkind
raven circling
the vulnerable nest

fills the silence,
beggars the senses--
But, you said,
But I replied

as if we both could
be right about
what neither of us
really care to accept.

He said, she said. I wonder who prevailed, the crow or the raven. In the relationship wars there are no winners, only survivors.
