The Best of the Blessed

The Best of the Blessed

A Poem by Ken e Bujold
"

not putting down people's faith, just the hypocrisy

"

The best of all the blessed

have no soles, laces keep

their britches hitched.

The best of all the blessed

sleep tonight among the angels,

in a big box salvaged from the dumpster.

The best of the blessed

are the most righteous of the righteous,

they've nothing left to give.

But the blessed of the coming kingdom

don't give a f**k about the best of the blessed,

they're much too busy crafting boxed souls for their children.

There is a pain that hypocrisy amplifies, the same projecting reflection on both sides that make each in their experience of life and the world and of faith, miss out on what is truly given to all. That is the sad result for both the haves and the presumed have-nots. And in it the handed olive branch is misrepresented and broken by both parties. "Not that I have already obtained all this, nor have I already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me," Paul of Tarsus (ex-persecutor). There is no best blessed and no better blessed. But everyone has their own take and understanding. So in the end it is quite sad for something meant for everyone's good to be squandered over wranglings on politics, religion, and hypocrisy. It's been long coming the lift up sincerity over hypocrisy. Thanks Ken!

Gee
Give thanks, praise for all that is good, turn a blind eye to all else. Methinks all of the Gods must have pins and needles in their hands due to their arses being permanently parked up on them.
I'll let the religious keep hold of all religion whilst I amble happily through my life.
Interesting piece Ken

Sounds like you have been watching Joel Osteen from his megachurch perch, except with Olsteen blessed and mammon are equivalents.

Excellent Work Ken and I think Frederick Kesner's fabulous Review has really said it all. 'Blessed are the Poor - for theirs is The Kingdom of Heaven'.

I see where you're coming from on this. There is a lot of hypocrisy going around and God - in my opinion - seems to be out to permanent lunch. The more I see, the more I doubt when it comes to organized religion. The more I look through history, the more unfaultering I am.
The world is not fair and never has been.

Good poem, Ken.
