Falling From Eden

Falling From Eden

A Poem by Ken e Bujold

Who spoke the first truth before anyone knew
for certain it was in truth our first lie?
Who looked to the sun and gleamed its circle

could be the yoke to enslave us all once
and forever more once we learned division?
Who first wrote of love but spelled it hate,

thereby rendering us deaf and mute
to peace and harmony, life without war?
Who chose to view in pigments, a color

scheme of gradation, segregation?
Was it you, me? Does it truly matter,
which of us birthed the original sin?

Never could quite accept that original sin business. I have known people who never did anything original, including sin.

Interesting Work Ken - good clear Poetic diction - nice rhetoric at the end - 'There are more questions than answers'.

This has me arguing with myself, or myself and the author. Does it really matter? What easily could have strayed into I Want To Teach The World To Sing or Lennon's Imagine is kept on its toes with its series of questions (the author interrogating himself as well as the reader), the rhyming scheme (half rhyme is unsettling) and occasional word play such as truth/in truth. I particularly like the color scheme of gradation, which prompts the question Is a world of peace and harmony possible with some variety and without being boring? and the poems final questions, which wisely asks that we stop apportioning blame.

you are too kind sir. Simply happy to have you and others drop by and enjoy the work
Or ask us if we knew that dog is spelt C-A-T.... pointing fingers has never proven itself throughout history to solve any issue, big or small... Deep thoughts and meanderings.
