When I read a lot many years ago it was Raymond Carver, Saul Bellow, Herman Hesse, Richard Russo, couple of Japanese writers, Bukowski...others

kept the list to poets. I was a big fan of carver's work. Fiction ran from Garcia Marquez and the latins, to Murakami, to Ondaatje (who was my university tutor). But mostly poetry. A modernist through and through, an unrepentant fan of Ezra Pound. Also big fan of cummings, neruda and the canadian Al Purdy

your quite welcome, glad you had a smile on this somber day. The idea to include friends, oddly enough, came first, then the hard work of choosing those from the cannon. At least my shelves got a bit of the dust blown off them
