Sweet and Sour

Sweet and Sour

A Poem by Ken e Bujold
"

'Not for the sweet-toothed reader"

"

Why don't you write something
sweet, without the sour
bits of rage--

the accusation reads
like a sharp punch to the psyche's

solar plexus.

Too much melancholy

can't be good for the soul

cynicism like cancer

can rot you from the inside
until there's nothing left
worth saying.

So why don't you
write something sweet--

the trouble is
there's just too much

tedious treacle
being passed around

as it is.

I like a bit of treacle , it stirs up emotions and keeps everything honest. Sometimes sweet is sickly.

I had to smile as I read the last few lines. Your words are true. I may be guilty of laying on the treacle sometimes, but I guess we write whatever we are feeling at that particular moment. Sweet and sour... they sometimes make a good mix! I enjoyed the read.

Yuk! Too much treacle. I see what you mean, though. Good read, Ken.

Gee
Enjoyed this Ken. I find it far easier to write about death and it's fallout rather than the happy side of life.

My thoughts too, Ken. And I learned a new word, "Treacle."

Wow, my muse dictates what I write. I wouldn't take any notice of accusations. Never liked treacle much though. Reminds me of school puddings :) I smiled as I read your poem Ken.

Hello, Ken! :)
This was a fun read. It could be that the sweet-toothed writers are all deviant salesmen, and that the sweet-toothed readers are seeking abuse.
