Humankind's Greatest Invention

Humankind's Greatest Invention

A Poem by Ken e Bujold
"

"In thanks to the many denizens of the Writerscafe who bade me stay a spell and lighten my load"

"

Long before the city made you
sit fetch and roll

it tossed you a bone.

You thought yourself so clever

one of the chosen
few Eve had handed
the forbidden bounty

off her Golden Bough

so you danced

danced

danced

danced until you couldn't dance
no more

the artificiality of
the ever increasing complexity of

living, being boxed

and packaged

every bit as
crude as
a throw away coffee cup

beat you down

down down down

milked you dry

until every last trace of
humanity consumed

you simply couldn't

sit fetch and roll

any more.

She'd used you
consumed

you, loved leached and bled

you

dry.

Author's Note

Ken e Bujold
This one is hot, composed in less time than it took me to finish the coffee I poured to see me through the writing. Its rawness is my attempt to cauterize a very old wound I'd not undressed in quite a while. My offer of thanks to the many kind fellows I'm found in the few short days I have been haunting the cafe. You've allowed me to reaffirm certain truths I wish to live by.
Thank you, each and every one

Sometimes the ones we suppress come surging and we have no choice as stenographers of uncertainty but to write the words whispered. This may be your finest as the rawness can be felt without being seen. Congratulations and well done.

thank you for the kind review Neville, glad you enjoyed the read
An interesting first impression. Poetry is a load! Loaded words that explode, releasing the tension built in life. The artificiality has become more complex and requires a robot to package us. Milk us. Dried milk that can be rehydrated with spontaneous creativity. This one was out of the box.
