you are quite write sir .. tis indeed, a little gem & well worth resurrecting, in my humble opinion .. and get this, I remember such days too, laced as they were with separation anxiety & associated adrenaline :)
We walk alone. Steps ticking in time with our thoughts. Decipher silence is some excellent stuff! You dated it 2022 but say it's an old gem?

This week while going through my filing cabinets (a good bit of advice by the way, I don't throw anything away, just file it an organized manner) I came across this little gem and decided it was time it was given some sun. dated 2022 simply out of ease should there ever arise an issue of plagiarism its here in black and white the first time this poem was allowed out on its own

As I note in my Seafarer, I have been working and revising and sharing that poem in god knows how many different ways for almost 40 yrs. It is only finished when I am finished, or when I say enough!
It is amazing what we imagine as causation when the razor is most apt. Silence is simply not speaking, not not speaking to you. Self-absorption leads to a stain shaped like regret.

Well, Ken ..back to reading yet another one of yours...
I definitely relate to this timeless poem.
Could be oh so many things... A romance gone wrong..a one night stand, etc.
But whatever it was this little gem stands out.
I really did so enjoy the read...Our days were light until quite late and then last week darkness started showing its face earlier and earlier... Now 7:10 and just beginning to be darkish...
Lisa, looking out of the many windows at our amazing view..

Can't speak much to the genesis of the poem, so long ago I honestly don't remember. The folder was marked '92 which most likely puts its origin in my late 20s, before the "Blue Period" but more than that and I'm in the mists of time.
I bet the views are amazing indeed. Haven't wandered Spain quite as much as other bits of Europe, but I do recall it fondly
Enjoy your evening
